Stained Glass Window Craft

A great activity to do with your kids when your stuck inside is to make wax paper stained glass creations! These are very easy and are great to display at your windows for your kids to enjoy! All you need are crayon shavings, waxed paper, and a clothes iron.

Before starting you can have your child create crayon shavings by sharpening their favorite colors onto a sheet of wax paper. You can also premake some and have them in different stacks by color. Have them make a fun design.

**TIP** Make sure there is space between the colors or they start to look brown from blending together. Give them space to melt out.

After they have made a beautiful design, lay another layer of wax paper over it. Use a sheet of regular paper or a cloth to cover the wax paper and use a hot iron to heat the project. Don’t forget to put a paper over it before applying the iron! If you do not put a piece of paper or cloth between your iron and the wax paper, the wax will transfer to your iron and ruin it!

After the wax has melted, your child’s design will be ready to display! You can display it as is, cut out shapes, or use another material to add the “stained glass” to. Use construction paper to make a church or cool building and cut out windows. Layer it with the wax paper to make it look like your church has stained glass windows!

Your child will love getting to see the light shine through their windows! Hang them up somewhere that they can see!
