It’s been a while since I’ve done a “Geeky” post, which is a bummer because I LOVE doing Geeky gift idea posts (make sure to check out my Geeky Baby Shower Gift Guide as well as my list of gifts for the geeky husband). I realize I’m a little late doing this one since Teacher Appreciation was LAST week, but that week was actually the MOST stressful week for me as a teacher and my blog sort of took a backseat… Now I present to you, the ULTIMATE list of Gifts for the Geeky Teacher.

It was hard not to go overboard!

You might noticed that in this list of gifts for the geeky teacher I have not included mugs… To be honest there are some REALLY cool geeky mugs out there, but really, teachers get mugs all the time. They don’t need anymore mugs. It might be OK if it really is an awesome mug.

Harry Potter

Most teachers are probably into Harry Potter, ESPECIALLY the geeky ones like me. As a fourth grade teacher, every year I read The Sorcerer’s Stone to my class. At the end of the year on the last day of school, we had a Harry Potter Party where we watched the movie and ate pizza. It was awesome.

Some teachers even have their students take the house quiz and put them into houses. You’d be surprised at how accurate it is.

The common love of Harry Potter among teachers, both geeky and non-geeky, is why you will find Harry Potter Themed products in every category. If you learn nothing else from this post, learn that YOU CAN’T GO WRONG WITH HARRY POTTER WHEN IT COMES TO GIFTS FOR THE GEEKY TEACHER!

A New Lanyard

Almost every teacher I know uses a lanyard for their classroom key and their ID card. It’s an absolute must (so you don’t continually lock yourself out of your room-I had to learn the hard way).

Lanyards are a great way to show your personality with something that you have to have, and there are so many to choose from! Do you know their Hogwarts house? Get them a lanyard to represent!

Below I have selected a few from each of the common geeky obsessions!

Classroom Decor

Teachers love to have themes in their room but decorating can be time consuming and expensive (especially when you want to do a geeky theme).

This year my theme was Doctor Who. I didn’t buy anything for it, but would have welcomed some cool Doctor Who decor to put in my room.

We went the handmade route (see below) and I’m lucky to have an artistic husband. He’s seriously amazing.

Do you know their theme? Harry Potter? Star Wars? Doctor Who? Marvel? Whatever your geeky teacher loves, chances are there are plenty of ways you can help them decorate their room!

Wall Decals

Wall decals are PERFECT for a classroom because they are fun and look fancy without having to put in a lot of work. Many teachers have become accustomed to projecting a design on the board, putting poster paper up, and tracing from the projection (my go-to strategy).

But decals look fancy and even stick to whiteboards! A lot of teachers have started using vinyl to decorate their whiteboards and walls to look fancy.

Posters

Posters are awesome to hang in the classroom and they are easy to find! Give the geeky teacher in your life some great posters of their favorite theme to hang around their room!

Bulletin Board and Classroom Decorations and Letters

Door decorations like this Marvel Set are so fun!

Bulletin Board Letter sets like this Star Wars set are perfect gifts for the geeky teacher. I laminated my letter set that I bought my first year of teaching and used them for five years!

Along the same lines, getting them an entire classroom set of bulletin board decorations like the one below helps them have everything they need to give their classroom a cohesive theme!

Miscellaneous Gifts for the Geeky Teacher

Room decor, lanyards, and bookmarks are great gifts for the geeky teacher, but there is no end to the great geeky products out there that are just perfect for the geeky classroom!

Harry Potter UNO game

Card games are perfect for indoor recess and this Harry Potter Uno game would be an excellent addition to a Harry Potter-themed classroom as well as just regular Harry Potter Playing Cards!

Deathly Hallows Projection Lamp

Seriously, how cool would this be to have in the classroom library projecting the Deathly Hallows on the wall?

Lord of the Rings Mousepad

Dragon Stapler

A teacher can never have too many staplers. This is one made for a warrior.

A Cool Clock

Gifts for the Geeky Teacher

I may be having too much fun with this! In summary, when it comes to gifts for the geeky teacher, anything that can be useful in the classroom but also lets their geek flag fly can be a great gift!

What do you think? What is the perfect gift to give to that special geek?
